Saturday

I joined the Saturday Sky project, started by Sandy at Sandy's Knitting. So here's my entry: Saturday Sky in Irvine, California.

I also thought I'd share my morning with you. Most Saturdays, you can find me at the farmers' market by UC Irvine

Fruit and Veg

The experts who run the nectarine stand told me that the freckles in the nectarines are caused by the sugar in the fruit, so if you are looking for sweet, pick the freckled fruit. The top photo shows cherries, figs, blueberries and blackberries.

I brought home organic lettuce foursome: green leaf, red leaf, romaine and a what looks to be a cross between romaine and red leaf lettuce. All washed and ready to eat!

The Chinese vegetable stand. The top photo shows (left to right) Crown Daisy Garland Chrysanthemum, Pea Tips (Snow pea leaves), and Bok Choy. I'm not sure how you prepare the Chrysanthemum or Pea Tips.

They also have craft booths (mostly junky stuff in my opinion) but this booth is an exception. This is Pacific and Rose. The lady who runs this stand designs wood blocks and has the cloth hand printed in India, which she then makes into aprons, bags, scarves, tablecloth, napkins, etc. Just beautiful.

There are the wood blocks in the center of the table.

Hope everyone has a safe and happy Fourth. I'm looking forward to seeing the other Saturday Skies.
