Sunrise Circle Jacket - Completed

I finished my Sunrise Circle Jacket yesterday.

SCJ-Front.jpg

Pattern: Sunrise Cirlce Jacket by Kate Gilbert from Interweave Knits Web Patterns. I knit this as part of a knit along.
Guage: 18 sts & 27 rows = 4" ( I was off a bit from the pattern gauge of 18.5 sts & 28 rows = 4")
Yarn: 11 balls of Jo Sharp Silkroad Aran Tweed in Jewel. Love this yarn and the finished fabric.
Needles: 4.5 mm/US 7 addi turbos 24" and 32"
Start: 2-28-06
Finished: 3-25-06 (Included the blocking process, seaming, hemming and closures)
Size: 37"
Highlights: The back shaping is beautiful and ultra-feminine.
Lowlights: Too much finishing involved. The hemming, seaming and sewing in the snaps took me roughly 8 hours.
Notes: Instead of the toggle buttons (which I thought would be attract too much of the wrong kind of attention to my 'ahem' busty figure) I chose to use snaps as the closure for this jacket. I think I knit a size too large. The sleeves look really long in the picture, but it's actually too much ease in the armpit section that makes the sleeves look like that.

Sunrise Circle

I swatched the two dyelots of the Silkroad Aran Tweed and there was no noticeable difference between them. So I cast on for the sleeve of the Jacket Tuesday night. The picture of the swatch didn't come out so I won't post it here. I tell you this yarn is beautiful. I love the speckles of Navy and lavender in the knitted fabric.

I start on the sunrise part of the jacket tonight.

Mini Cavern Sweater is Done.

Mini-Cavern sweater is done:
mini_cavern.jpg

Pattern: originally from Glampyre and modified as Cavern by Cosmicpluto
Yarn: 10 balls of Elann Alpaca in Mushroom heather
Needles: addi turbo 4mm
Modifications: I added buttons, waist shaping, and a seed stitch belt, instead of ties.

Here's a picture of it on. Sorry for the lousy picture.

I also cast on for Bolero Jacket by Debbie Bliss in Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky in Garnet. I'm hoping to finish by Thursday before the start of the Olympics.

Mini Sweater Redux

I cast on for this sweater, based on Glampyre's mini sweater and modified by cosmicpluto as the cavern sweater.

I'm using Elann's alpaca in Malt Heather. So far, it's knitting up nicely. Alpaca is so slippery, but the fabric is so soft and light and lovely.

This Entry Brought to You by the Letter J

weasley j.jpg
This is the Weasley sweater I knit for baby j, my nephew. It was part of my Hand Knit Holiday Gift Along.
Yarn: Encore Plymouth Worsted, 75% Acrylic 25% Wool (Mama J doesn't do hand washing so this yarn was perfect. I'm not sure if it was the wool content in the yarn, but it blocked really nicely too.)
Needles: US 7 bamboo
Pattern: Blue Blog Alison pattern
Letter j pattern from Lismeta

Friday night, I went to Disneyland and rode on my favorite ride, which has been all done up for the Holidays.

Hourglass III

I'm working on my third hourglass sweater with Peace Fleece worsted in Ancient Fern. Here's a swatch:
peace fleece stockingst.jpg
Yes, hours and hours of stocking stitch can get boring, but there's something so appealing about the Vs all lined up. I've never worked with Peace Fleece before, but I hope it softens up in the blocking process.

Yes, that is one sleeve standing at attention.

I saw the 2005 Pride & Prejudice over the weekend. No one can beat the real Mr. Darcy.
